John Barrington Craggs
John started his career in software at 14 with a contract with a medical research facility. Since then he has had the privilege of working for start-ups and multinationals in a number of diverse industries from finance to manufacturing. His experience has shown him the value of finding the commonalities in apparently distinct problems and that a thorough understanding of a problem is a prerequisite to any efficient solution.
John comes to ExHI after nearly ten years as a programmer in the video games industry. During this time he contributed to a cloud gaming platform and worked on critically and commercially successful games. He specialized in solutions to object synchronization problems found in the world of networked-multiplayer games, but wore many hats and tackled a wide variety of challenges.
Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta John appreciates a cold snowy winter, but greets each season with a passion to play outside. He lives in Montreal and when he's not at his desk he can be found running, biking and skiing over the local hills. John and his partner also run a not for profit taxi service for their two active children.

Yana is a curious chameleon who loves a good puzzle. With a past life solving puzzles in organic chemistry and neuroscience, she's excited by finding similar patterns in seemingly different domains.
She came across code when she was given a legacy MATLAB program to analyze the Jamming Avoidance Response of pulse type electric fish. Since then, she's become enamored with the art of writing readable, organized and maintainable code.
When approaching complicated problems, she likes to ask: What are we *really* solving for? What was nature's or other engineer's solution? And what are the consequences or side effects of this solution?
When she's not thinking her head off, she likes to play games and tell bad jokes: Two fish are in a tank. One asks the other, 'do you know how to drive this thing?'
